    Good entry-level e-bike.

Bottom lineShipping was good. Assembly was easy. The bike ships with good tools. I got about 30 miles on one charge — with the bike mainly on level 3 pedal assist (max). Some negativesFrame is heavy. The brakes require a lot of minor adjustments. Gears aren’t always the smoothest.OverallAn amazing value for the money. I wanted to see if I want to bike more. And this is a perfect first e-bike.

Liked at first, but then customer support

    — UPDATE — The finally got back to me after a week. By that time I found the problem with battery mount. Minor, but preventing a good contact. I fixed myself. Upped the star rating, but still only 3 stars sinceA – 1 full week to respond is a lot, and even then, they requested a video, so who knows how long the next response would take. The chat window that said someone would responding soon didn’t get a response until more than 12 hours later. I left a tab open, saw it the next day.. tB – beware that if you need a new battery, their cost (without shipping) is nearly 80% the cost of a brand new bike.C – I’m on my third response to them telling them that I’ve fixed the problem, and they keep sending me messages asking if the problem is fixed. My previous response was “I fixed it myself.. all good. Thanks” yet somehow they sent back a message asking if the problem has been solved???!?! What??????????? Can I be any more clear?– original review —We’ve ridden and charged this bike about 15 times. The battery has never fully been depleted. Yesterday the battery was 100% dead, and it accepts no charge. The charger is working.Called support: 15 minutes of complaining about “high call volume” only to have the call disconnected without every speaking to anyone. Repeat, same. So, if thy don’t answer in 15, you lose your place in the queue.Opened chat window. Response: “We’ll be on as soon as we can.” No estimate. Just hit the 30 minute mark there without response. UPDATE – just hit the 4 hour mark NO RESPONSE ON CHAT!So, the warranty looks nice, but if they refuse to speak with you, its useless.p.s. A replacement battery is 80% the cost of the bike!

    Can’t beat the price!

You really get a lot for the price with this E-bike!It’s not meant for off road and doesn’t have the strongest/ sturdiest parts. But it’s an easy set up and the battery life is great. It gets you around town and seems faster than you think it would be. Great buy for the price!

    Great price/ Value

Fun bike to ride. Pedal assist setting 1 is a little slow for flat riding, Pedal assist 2 is a little fast for trail riding. Setting 3 is great for city riding. Wish is had more gears than just 7, but I can live with it. Had to order the adjustable handlebar stem, the factory one was way to low for me, I am 6’3. Battery lasts a long time. So far I have around 40 miles on it. Over all it is a great bike for a budget minded person. I would highly recommend it for use when camping on trails, or bike paths.

    Good bike for the cost.

I was very skeptical at first just because of the bad reviews and the “fake sale” with jacked up delivery. I took the chance and ordered it anyway. So far I’ve been pleased. Within 14 miles the locking front cylinder blew out. Contacted HeyBike warranty via email and they responded in under 12 hours saying they’re going to ship a new one out to me.Haven’t been able to reach the top speed of 28 on it yet, the chain/gears start clicking at about 25, it sounds like the chain is going to fly off. With solely the twist throttle it will do about 20/21 in Pas3 mode. Haven’t drained the battery as of yet to do a full cycle and see how many miles it gets per charge, can update when I do.Initial assembly isn’t very difficult as long as you have some very moderate mechanical abilities and some common sense as directions aren’t 100% clear (mostly pictures).Overall so far so good.

    This Bike is Fantastic

I purchased one Heybike Race Max in Blue due to the price. It was less than others on Amazon and after reading the reviews I felt comfortable in purchasing the bike. The box got delivered and the assembly was easy and took about an hour. The hardest part was adjusting the front brake so it would not rub on the brake rotor. There are videos on Utube explaining this adjustment which took me about 20 minutes, and you can use the tools that came with the bike. The bike is a comfortable ride, but I did replace the seat as it was too hard and also raised the handlebars to fit me better. The front LED light is really bright, and the rear light also works well that came with the bike. Overall, this is a super fun bike to ride, and I have gotten it up to 29 mph with no problems. You will need to charge the battery right when you get the bike. The battery life seems good, but we will see how long the battery lasts. I would likely recommend purchasing this bike if you do not want to fork out 600 to over 2000 for a bike that probably does the same thing as this bike does. I also purchased a rear bike rack on Amazon. Hope this review helps.

Has been a great bike so far. My only complaint would be that the LCD screeen was scratched upon arrival. Kind of bummed me out a little.

    Wheels came bent, stripped screws

I like bike but I can’t ride it due to rim coming bent so it’s intermittently rubbing on brake pad . Waiting for help from Heybike! Edit now I see both wheels are wobbling . Not good on brand new bike !! Edit , I now found 4 of the 6 screws holding brake rotor on stripped! Waiting on a resolution from Heybike. This is frustrating! Will update review when issue is resolved…Update!! Support got me parts to fix bike . It is now working normal and safe. I am going to test for a while and will update upon testing.

    Replacement Parts finally arrived

50miles on it and good so far. Horn and Light did not work out of the box. I emailed Heybike and they responded the next day and said they would send me a new horn and light with the integrated wiring and switch. No update was provided and then the parts showed up in the USPS mail after several days. Customer service could be better but what do you expect for this price. Appears to be a great bike for the money.

    Would have been 5 but…

Good value but a few things to note… the rear tire wore out after 250 miles. The gears did not shift properly out of box and needed adjustment but easy to do. I do enjoy this bike so far. Brakes are decent but squeaky, it only has 7 speeds so on pedal assist 2 you are pedaling very fast and pedal assist 3 is beyond stupid. Would be nice to have a taller gear. But for slow rides like I do it’s perfect just in pedal assist 1. Get a riser for handle bars and upgraded seat and it’s a nice ride.

    Wow!

This bike is so fun! I took this out for an hour on my first ride and the battery is still at full charge. Goes up hills easily so no more struggling for me. I am amazed how good of quality it is. The only thing that bothers me a little is my kick stand rattles a bit but not really a big deal and I’m sure an easy fix. If you’re not looking to buy one of the high dollar e-bikes, this is perfect! No regrets on this purchase.

    Top notch product and support

This is a great bike and I’ve had a lot of fun already riding. I had a tiny issue with the bike and the customer service was absolutely awesome with resolving the little issue and totally professional plus generous along the way. If there was 6 stars, I’d choose that rating 🙂

    Good bike for the price!

Poor customer service, parts missing, rear wheel wobbles, out of shape. Avoid, buy a better quality bike, or try packing it back in the box for return LOL.Update: Mark from customer service contacted me and a few days later my replacement parts arrived at my door, other than that, I love the bike! Thanks Mark.

Great for an old fat Dad to ride with the kids.

Im about ~200lbs at the time I wrote this, I work at home and I look like it! I needed a little peddle assist to keep up with the kids if you know what I mean. With this bike, it is downhill both ways! I have had a number of bikes throughout my life, and this one is definitely punching above its weight for the price. You can still move your legs and peddle manually if you want the exercise, or to extend the battery range by peddling with the peddle assist. It’s not too heavy, but IT IS heavier than a normal mountain bike for sure. It charges fast, and the battery seems to stay charged forever. I am still on my first charge and ive gone about 20 miles. It still has about 70-80% full. Thats because I only use the peddle assist half the time, and I don’t climb more than a few dozen feet elevation, up to a hundred or so feet. It was also fast and easy to assemble.SummaryThis is a MUCH higher quality bike than you would get for a non-electric bike at walmart for the same price. HeyBike is winning with this one I think.

    Actual speed

I love this bike and it is worth every penny but it doesn’t go 28 MPH like it said it is Max out at 22 MPH that was the only thing I think people should be told the truth so I would rate it at 4 Stars but if it went 28 MPH I would rate it 5 Stars.

Parts shipped separate, customer service is meh.

Received the bike and put it together. Realized at this point it did not come with the fender kit that cost extra! Emailed Heybike customer service and they replied with a tracking number and delivery confirmation for a package delivered to California…. I live in Pennsylvania! Attempted several times to call them during their posted hours at both phone numbers listed only for the announcement to say it was outside of normal business hours. Attempted to Chat using their chat and no response. The bike seems pretty good. I was expecting a little more power but it works ok on flat ground. Any change in elevation requires more and more effort peddling. I hope they correct this error either by sending the fenders or refunding the difference in cost. If not, will be filing for 100% refund and go somewhere else for a bike.UPDATE: Received the fender kit several days after the bike. Customer service is more concerned with the review I posted above and asked me to change it and they will send another set of fenders… not sure what I would do with two sets of fenders when I only have 2 wheels on the bicycle. The bike is running pretty good as long as you stay on fairly flat ground. Hills still require effort to climb but I am 225lbs. Would definitely recommend as entry level E-bike that is put together well for the price point.

the bicycle itself is not very good, electrics are OK. review updated.

To start, I need to say that I am 6′ 2″ and 250 lbs., which is at or near the weight capacity for this bike. The intent for this purchase was to re-introduce ourselves (myself and my 115 pound wife) to bicycles (after not owning or riding a bike for almost 40 years)and electric bikes in particular with a lower end of the scale electric bike. This is definitely the lower end of the scale!Fit and Finish: It looks better than it is. the fork has too much play in the steering head ( you can move the forks back and forth in the steering head (I’ll see if a bike tech can fix that…). The front wheel was badly out of true and needs a bike tech to sort out. The flex at the front sprocket is bad. The brakes are pretty bad for a 250 lb guy – you can flex the discs with your hand. the Shimano derailer needs adjustment right away (slight mis-alignment in 7th gear).electrics: The electrics are better than the bike itself. Once you figure out how it all is supposed to work, the power delivery on pedal assist is good at a 3, not so much at lower selections. The bike did reach an indicated 21 mph on a flat road. The motor was lacking going uphill, way more exertion required (again 250 lbs…).I haven’t bothered reaching out to the manufacturer, as I am not in a location that is conducive to returns of any purchases from any vendor. I’ll see if there is a bike tech who can sort out some of these issues and will update this review moving forward..I will update with my wife’s impressions after she gives it a go.Overall impression: looks better than it is. Probably will be fine for my wife, but I need something more powerful with a higher quality of materials and finish to assist moving my larger-than-average frame around on two wheels again. The bike did what was intended for us and gave us a positive experience with e-bikes, which will provide the impetus to purchase something of a higher quality and power. It served it’s purpose for us, but I would not recommend this bike to someone who is expecting a quality ride for $700 (ish) dollars.Part 2: the wife… I’ve added a star now that the bike is being used by someone who is not in danger of snapping a pedal shaft! My wife is 5’6″ tall and weighs in at 120 lbs. After getting the e-bike sorted out and made safe by a bike tech for $60.00, I gave my wife a rundown on how to use the bike and we went off to a school yard to get her familiar with it. This bike is a completely different bike for her than it was for me. The bike has plenty of power and she had no issues with hills or acceleration. She actually found the pedal-assist acceleration set on 3 to be too strong for learning how to use the bike. The brakes which were horrible for me, were fine for her weight. We will provide a 3rd update on this bike after she has ridden it for a little while. I recommend this bike to people of a smaller stature. Folks my size need something built for larger built.Full disclosure: The seller did offer me a complete refund after my less-than-stellar review was posted… I chose to refuse the offer as the refund would not have covered my costs and my wife would be out a bike.

    Great Bike for the Price

I’m going to list the Cons before the Pros, just because this is going to be a long review and I want to make sure people are aware of any potential problems, but I want to point out that despite the Cons, this bike is still worth a 5/5 from me, with the primary reason being the price: I spent literally dozens of hours searching and this was the only bike with a motor and battery this good for this price, from a proper Brand that can be contacted reliably for support.Issue:The most common issue, which based on reviews here and elsewhere seems to be happening to 1 in 20 people lately, is the packing plastic spacer on the left side of the front wheel breaking, leaving plastic wedged into the axle without anything protruding to grab the plastic by to pull it out, preventing you from putting the quick release rod through the axle in order to put the wheel on the bike. If this happens to you, heybike will send you a video instructing you to simply ram the quick release rod through the axle to push out the piece of plastic. Based on other people’s comments on videos, that seemed to work for most people. But if you happen to be very unfortunate, like me, and the plastic is wedged in there so bad that you actually bend the quick release rod in the process of ramming it for hours, then fear not. When I had that problem, I contacted support and they send me a new quick release rod, which took a week to arrive. This inconvenience cost me an opportunity, but I’ll cut them some slack because it’s still a great bike.Shipping CostAnother con is that the company does not cover the return shipping cost if you end up having to send the whole bike back. According to their policy in the book that came with the bike, you will be responsible for paying the shipping cost on returns. However, you do not have to pay the shipping cost on replacement parts if something arrives faulty. Most of the time if there’s a problem on arrival, it’s just a part, not the bike frame, so that should be fine.DisplayAnd, as usual, the built-in speedometer says you’re going a little faster than you really are. Apparently it’s typical for manufacturers’ displays to present a speed that is 10-20% faster than reality in order to upsell their bikes, so I wasn’t too upset to see that this bike was showing speeds around 5-10% faster than my phone GPS was giving me. Other than that, the display looks good, it’s bright and can be adjusted for visibility at day and night, and it’s easy to use. More expensive bikes will come with more customization options on their displays, but bikes in this price range tend to have basic displays, and this one is still better than average.BatteryThe battery life is great. Most e-bikes only get about half of the range they say they do, but this bike can actually get a little MORE than what they say it gets. They state 30-40 miles to a charge. The parts I needed only just arrived, so I haven’t gotten a chance to deplete the battery yet, but at 10 miles of riding in pedal assist 3 mode with my speed generally between 12-20 mph, I only took the battery down to 80%, so that might mean 45-50 miles to a charge. And I weigh 215 pounds, so if I can get that kind of range, you’ll probably have no problem. Expect 25-30 miles of range on throttle, 40-60 with pedaling. The battery’s charge indicator leaves some to be desired, as when it is fully charged it will have 2 red lights and 3 green lights. At first glance one might think that means 60% charge, but it does in fact mean full charge. The battery can be locked to the frame with a key, which is important to prevent people from stealing the battery off of the bike, though you will still need a bike lock to protect the bike so they don’t just steal the whole entire thing. Get a U-lock to go around the frame, not a cord lock which can be cut. There’s a reason U-locks come with theft protection and cord locks don’t.MotorThe 500W motor, as used by this bike, should be the new standard for e-bikes. In Europe the limit is 350W, so I understand why people make them, but if you live in the US like me, then you can use a 750W in most places, and 500W pretty much anywhere. I weigh 215 pounds, and the motor was enough to bring me up to 19.8 mph in a few seconds, and a few more seconds of rigorous pedaling got it up to 23 mph, which felt faster than I was expecting it to. Most places limit e-bikes to 20 mph, and this will get you to that.ComfortThe handlebar grips are a nice touch, the front suspension is better than nothing, and the seat is a little wider than a typical bike seat, but still pretty basic. These were nice touches that you wouldn’t normally see on a bike this price, and it shows that they wanted this to be a finished product, not just the bare minimum that they could get out the door. If you weigh 200+ pounds and plan on riding dozens of miles, hopping curbs, and riding on the undermaintenanced roads and sidewalks that a lot of us are subjected to, then you might still want to buy a more comfortable bike seat and upgrade your suspension, but if you’re just an average 140-pounds, it will probably be good for you.SizeThis is a big bike; bigger than I was expecting. The 5’4-6’4 height range sounds accurate. If you’re shorter than 5’4, then when the bike isn’t moving, you’ll have to lean over on one foot because you’re not touching the ground with both feet at the same time. At 5’9 the bike feels great, and it still has a lot of room to raise the seat more.BrakesThe brakes are plenty strong enough to stop the bike fast.Night VisibilityThe stock headlight is good enough for city riding. If you were going somewhere with no lighting at all, you’d probably want a stronger headlight to feel safe going full speed knowing what lies ahead. The tail light is bright and adjustable, so drivers know you’re there. As standard, it’s got reflectors on the wheels so people on the side can see you at night too.LooksThe bike looks great. If you want your bike to look like a bike, this bike is for you.WeightIt’s heavy, like all e-bikes. For a bike this big, with this powerful of a motor and this big of a battery, it’s actually lighter than average, but if you’re a smaller person then you might want to just go ahead and buy a smaller and lighter bike, because I imagine this would be difficult for a smaller person to pick up and carry.SupportTheir phone support answers fast, but it is a bit limited and feels like it’s only there to receive calls, not resolve them; after you tell them what your problem is they’ll redirect you to their e-mail support which will take longer to respond (12-48 hours), but they were helpful and they answered my questions and helped solve my problem.Lately, this bike has been going on sale for $500-800. If you can get this bike for $700 or less, get it. The only bikes with comparable specs for cheaper than $600, are from companies that don’t even exist or drop-shippers that can’t provide proper support if anything goes wrong. And most reputable sellers with bikes this good are charging a lot more for them. Based on their website, it looks like they’re moving on to more expensive bikes with fancier designs, so this might be your last chance to get something standard and classic like this from Heybike.__________Update:I’ve got 320 miles on the bike so far, and it’s running great. I’ve gone over some sketchy stretches of road and I was really worried about the tires when I heard the sounds of metal and glass pieces flying out from under them, but there are no punctures and everything’s still fine. I’ve heard that stock tires on bikes tend to be cheap, but these seem like some good tires and I’m happy with them so far. The traction is great, and when I apply the brakes fully from full speed, the only thing that slips is my own body as I brace for the deceleration. And speaking of the brakes, they work great, and they were silent at first, but I’ve gotten them pretty dirty from doing deliveries in the rain, and they’re starting to squeal; I’ll need to get some brake cleaner and scrub off the brake pads, but other than that the brakes are good. The waterproofing on the motor and battery seems to work well enough; I’ve ridden in the rain for hours and I’ve gone through lots of sitting water at 20 mph, and it hasn’t gotten into anything. Just remember to keep those rubber covers squeezed tight into the ports on your battery and you’ll be fine in the rain. I bought a more comfortable seat with suspension, and that combined with the front suspension is working great to cushion me on long rides on choppy roads. I adjusted the front suspension to a level that works good for me, and I really appreciate that that’s an option. Also, it took me a few weeks to get my legs back in shape, but now that I’m used to it, this bike actually works great for regular pedaling as well. A common problem with most heavy fat tire ebikes is that their weight and resistance makes them difficult to pedal without motor assistance. But I’ve done a lot of riding with the motor turned off, and I can maintain 17 mph without the motor when I’m on good roads, though it definitely helps to use the motor to get up to 20, then turn the assist down to 0 and use my legs to maintain speed and save the battery, since I sometimes do deliveries for 4-6 hours before taking a break to recharge the battery.I’ve also gotten a lot of compliments from strangers about the bike, and that’s fun.

Affordable Bike that can handle some rough terrain.

I bought the Heybike Race Max as a Christmas present for myself. I have a normal mountain bike but I want to start long distance trail riding so I figured I’d look into an E-Bike. After researching and watching a few reviews I decided to give this one a try. I am so glad I did. For reference, I’m 5’9 and 250 pounds and this bike has no trouble pulling me around. I also have not had any problem stopping with the factory brakes. The height of the bike fits me perfectly. I love the way this bike looks. The black and yellow work great together. I color matched my accessories and it looks great. The only modification I did was I put a fork extender to raise the handlebars and installed some fenders. I have now put around 70 miles on it and it’s mostly been off-road. My trail of choice is the Air Line State Park Trail. I’ve ridden on asphalt, packed soil, mud, through puddles, railroad ballast and sand. I’ve ridden up rocky areas which unfortunately caused me to snap my chain. Luckily because this has a hub motor I was able to use the throttle and get to the road and ride back 8 miles up and down hills. Once reaching 34 MPH. The chain was an easy fix and I was off for another couple of hours of riding. A few weeks ago I went for another long ride. This time I was around mile 15 and I got a flat. The valve stem broke. I know someone stated that it cost a lot to change the rear tire but I found it easy to replace the tube. I did not need to remove the hub. I loosened the tire nuts, removed the 2 brake caliper bolts and slid the caliper off. I was able to slide the tube right out and put the new one in within minutes. I’m thinking I’d be able to do the same with the tire. Overall, I don’t think I could have found a better bike for the money.

    100 Mile Review

I have owned this bike for 100 miles now and figured it’s about time to give it a review. The Good:The battery life has always been enough (and more).I like the style more than I expected. The battery has a USB port for charging electronics (but only 1Amp).The Bad:The “Assist” has nothing to do with effort. There are 3 levels of assist: 1 7-8MPH, 2 ~15MPH, 3 20MPH. There is a pedal sensor, but it only is there to sense if the pedals are moving, not to give proportional assistance to the pedaling effort. You can put anywhere between 0-100% to hold the speed associated with the assist level, and the bike will still run at that speed (with 1 exception covered later). For example: if you select level 2 assist, it doesn’t matter if you are freewheeling or putting in 50% of the force required for the speed or 99% of the force required, the bike will still go 15MPH. The only exception I have found to this rule is if you select level 3 assist and pedal with considerable force, you can get the bicycle to travel a little faster than 20MPH and the assist does not cut out entirely. The thing that bothered me most was the Speedometer Inaccuracy. It would display that I was going 23MPH on the highest level of assist when I was traveling 20MPH. I know this because I tested the bicycle with a radar detector. I was a bit upset at the inaccuracy because I am the type that prefers an honest truth over a pleasant lie. I know it is common practice within the e-bike industry to do this, so I ended up finding a workaround to correct the speedometer.Changing the tire size on the bicycle’s computer does not change the speed of the bicycle, but it does change the speed displayed on the speedometer. I was able to correct the speedometer inaccuracy by telling the computer it had 24″ wheels on it. The math makes sense because the speedometer displayed 15% faster than the bike was traveling (from the factory), and 24″ wheels are about 15% smaller than 27.5″ wheels (which this bike comes with). In the manual, it says “Do not change this!” next to the tire size setting on the bicycle’s computer.BOTH inner tubes popped on me during the first 80 miles of riding this bike! I ended up replacing both inner tubes with tubes I bought that came with slime in them (to seal holes in case of puncture) and I had a working bike again within the day both times. The tubes are cheap, costing less than $8 each at the time of this writing. The seat is not comfortable for prolonged periods of riding. I anticipate I will replace the seat in the future.Upgrades:I changed out the gears on the rear wheel with ones that are more useful. This bike comes with a freewheel (not a cassette) with 7 14-28T gears. (Meaning it has 7 gears with the smallest gear having 14 teeth and the largest having 28). I replaced it with an 11-34T freewheel, and it has made a world of difference! I highly recommend this upgrade! (It does require special tools, but it is not difficult.)Slime in the tires! If you only take one thing away from this review, let it be this: PUT SLIME IN YOUR INNER TUBES! I personally prefer reliability over attaining 1-5% more efficiency from a bike. (It is an e-bike after all) I got a flat tire TWICE on my commutes to and from work, and one of these times I had to push the bike the rest of the way to work, making me late.Overall, this is a very nice bike that comes with a large amount of fun and style!

    adore this bike!

We live in the mountains and I had given up bike-riding when we moved here, because… hills, hills, and extremely steep hills! Well, I finally caved and bought this bike after months of reading reviews of bikes with e-assist and a deep Father’s Day sale discount. I AM SO HAPPY!!! I ride my bike to work and it is, literally, the best part of my workday. I have to go up and down about 4 hills just to get to work and back. With the electrical assist, I enjoy the hills rather than suffering. It’s much better than walking, too, because I’m not tired or sweaty when I get to work. I live 1/2 mile from my job and it’s a treacherous journey by foot. It’s a total JOY by HeyBike. I’m in love with this bike and I didn’t want to write a review too soon, because I’m paranoid like that. After about 3 weeks, I honestly have no complaints, though. I don’t have to charge the battery daily and using the throttle to coast along a flatter area at 28mph after going down a hill is maybe the most fun I’ve had in my 40s. I laugh while riding… that’s how much fun it is. Riding this bike reminds me of how I felt riding bikes as a kid. It’s totally brought back that type of fun in my life. My 20yo and 14yo kids, however, think the bike is scary because the electrical power really works. lol Best purchase I’ve made for myself in years. Thanks, HeyBike for making such a great product! FYI for anyone interested in mods… I’m a “well-built” woman in her late 40s who stands at 5’10”. It’s the perfect height/size for me. My 6′ tall daughter was also impressed with how perfect the sizing is. We aren’t always comfortable on bikes due to how they’re made. This one is PERFECT… with a couple mods: I added a bike stem extender so that the handlebars sit higher since I usually hate mountain bikes (I prefer hybrid bikes) and a LARGE cushioned seat. I wanted to truly enjoy my riding experience and with those modifications… I do! And, so do my kids when they ride my bike and aren’t too scared to turn it on. The horn and light are GREAT additions! I use the light regularly and the brightness on dark, tree-covered streets is perfect. The horn is loud enough. I rode to work in a drizzle one day and it didn’t affect the bike. My 14yo is now requesting one of her own, but she wants the cruiser. Thanks for bringing back the fun of bike-riding! Living in the mountains, this is really a game-changer for our family.

    You won’t regret it

I purchased this because I was riding my kids around the neighborhood on a huffy mountain bike from Walmart and it was brutal going up hill… especially when my 3 year old is asking me to go faster because it’s hot…. this beauty exceeded my expectations it has a throttle so if you put the pedal assist on 3 you can just drive it up hills truly a game changerIts also light enough you can pedal without any assistanceToday was my first day so I’m not sure how the batteries last but the seat is more comfortable than the cheap mountain bikeI got it up to 22 miles per hour according the the speedometer going down hill which was plenty fastOnly complaintsI had to use their YouTube video for assembly because the instructions were overly detailed which is normally a good thing but i was putting it together outside in 98 degree heat and didn’t feel like wasting time so I searched youtube and they have a video it was assembled in under 3 minutes after watching it.. maybe I’m just s visual learnerThe left brake doesn’t work might need to be tightened like I said first day I was excited to ride it and the right side workedThe shippers dented the box where the rear tire bolt was sticking out even with a plastic cover not their fault and nothing was damaged I was still able to attach the trailer with no issues10/10 will probably buy another for my wife

Do Not Buy; Defective; Poor Customer Service

I’ll start by saying this is the 3rd ebike I have purchased online. First rad power direct from manufacturer no issues out of the box. 2nd Lectric via Amazon no issues out of the box. Went to purchase another Lectric no longer offered on Amazon and one month delay from manufacturer so I read reviews and gave this HeyBike a shot.Straight out of the box the bike had 3 issues: 1) front brake wire assembled improperly/rubbed against front wheel2) front rotor bent causing rubbing on both sides of brake pads3) defective battery outlet would not allow for charger cord to plug inI called support and it was outside of their hours. I emailed support, early in the work week. I described each issue. 48 hours later they emailed generic response asking for pictures. Felt like the run around as the description provided more info than any pics. I submitted pics. Here we are 24 hours later no response. In the meantime with little faith of getting anywhere with support I tackled the issues myself.1) I removed front brake assembly and rerouted wire away from wheel (see pic of where wheel had rubbed through rubber casing with just one short ride).2) I purchased Rotor truing fork off of Amazon for $12 and meticulously rotated wheel stopping intermittently at points of rubbing to bend disc with fork. After 20 mins of this I was able to reduce (not eliminate) rubbing to tolerable threshold. Then had to tighten up brakes.3) the charger made no sense. I looked at the plugs and it was identical to my rad power charger. I plugged hey bike charger into rad power battery and it fit perfectly. I plugged rad power charger into hey bike battery and it would not fit. This let me know hey bike battery is defective. I took hey bike charger plug and whittled away at plastic tip of plug with a pocket knife hoping for the best. I was able to get the plug to insert just enough to allow for a charge however I’m not sure how efficient this poor connection is as the charger did get really hot after a good 3 hours of charging. The battery went from 3 bars to full 5 bars of power but the charger was still red light when I went to unplug it. I believe it should turn green when charging is over.Ultimately the work arounds I used were annoying, time consuming, and just unnecessary for a bike that should work correctly out of the box. Of course the $150 shipping fee dissuades returns as I didn’t even inquire or want to go through the hassle of trying to return this lemon.I have requested a new front wheel with rotor and a new battery as resolution as I’m not sure how long my work arounds will hold up. My suggestion is to pass on this product and pay more for the quality, satisfaction, and improved customer service seen with more reputable companies such as Rad Power (gold standard) and Lectric (good value).I rarely write reviews, hope this helps

    Great bike for the money!

I bought the racemax back in May 2024 after test riding one up in the mtns of western NC. A 70 year old gentleman let me test his on a short ride and it seemed pretty strong considering the hill we were on.After our rv trip ended and we returned to coastal NC I went ahead and made the purchase.$389 + $100 in shipping.Recieved the bike about 4 days later. It arrived in great shape, no damage and came mostly assembled. Very easy to complete the assembly in order to ride.I did a couple of miles and was instantly addicted. I fully charged the battery and did a torture test. Considering I’m down on the coast of NC, I was able to get 30 miles using pedal assist, battery was just about out of power at that point but was still going.Seems like the battery to motor size is good. I did add a handle bar riser, and rear rack with bag. 240+ miles and without any concerns.Very happy with this purchase, I my view, you can’t beat the price for what you get.Since this purchase, my wife and I have purchased 2 additional bikes, larger batteries, motors but only because we wanted folding frames.Definitely recommend the heybike racemax.

    Read Reviews

We purchased 2 bikes for our commutes to work. The bikes seem to be in perfect condition and shipping was earlier than expected. Battery is holding up nicely. Unfortunately the chargers provided for both do not fit. I messaged customer service on their website via email and thru customer service provided thru Amazon’s assistance to contact the seller directly. Fortunately thru Amazon I recieved a quicker response. I was sent a link to adapters to purchase and given the option for reimbursement for the adapters or a $30 refund. I took reimbursement because it’s not an expensive fix. A day later I recieved a response from the website with the offer of reimbursement or a $20 refund which I thought was weird. I told them the issue had already been resolved. I only wish I had of reas thru reviews a little more thoroughly because now I’m concerned of any future issues I may have and if the responses will be treated as well as the first. I was informed the batteries were just upgraded and that is why the chargers did not fit. So if you order be prepared to buy adapters for the chargers but hopefully they will be fixing the mix up on their own. Now my only real complaint is the seats are uncomfortable. It was super easy and quick to put together tho. The true test will be my full commute to work (15 miles) daily and we will see how it holds up and lasts.

Not as refined as my other ebike.

My review of this bike is dramatically affected by my experience with my other ebike. But the difference is that my other ebike cost $2,000 where as this one was under $600. But here is what I’ve found that may be helpful in making a decision. My other bike was a Schwinn Sycamore.1. Shifter: I like the shifter on the Heybike a bit better. To go from highest to lowest gear is one movement of my thumb and seems to work as well as any. Moving up gears is a click at a time. Still easy.2. Shifter range: I wish it topped out just a little higher. With max power, the highest gear isn’t quite high enough to get maximum speed with my own effort, or I just have to peddle much faster at an uncomfortable rate.3. Power range: This has only 3 power ranges where as my Schwinn (and many others) have 5 power ranges. Power level 1 isn’t low enough to add just enough power. It’s nice to have a lower power range to use less battery.4. Take off responsiveness: There is too much lag time between moving the peddles and power kick-in. This is awkward especially when taking off from a stand still or especially when you pause peddling going up hill and then want to start peddling again. If I could fix one thing about this bike, it would be this.5. Battery: The battery does not seem to last as long as my Schwinn. This could be because I can’t choose a lower level of power. I really won’t be able to tell until my wife and I bike a longer distance together as she still has her Schwinn. The two bikes are comparable in other respects (which is why I chose this model). Structurally and mechanically they seem quite comparible. I don’t know if I’d go for another “cheaper” ebike. But this one does the job for now.

    Above average

The good: Easy to assemble. Comfortable to ride. Display is very nice and easy for a beginner to put together and ride for a starter bike. Fun ride! The bad: I am missing one of two handlebar screws, a usb cord, and I paid extra for fenders and did not receive either. I also may have an extra part that I notice wasn’t an item I should have received on my parts list.(?) I am hoping it didn’t fall off in transit. Initially the breaks didn’t squeak, but after using multiple times, the breaks do begin the squeak. There is a noise I hear when getting up to the higher speeds with the bike, although I’m unsure what it is.I called the number provided to reach hey bike support (when I received the bike on Saturday) and they said Amazon would contact me on Monday during business hours to remedy the issues. Still no word to date from anyone.I will update as soon as I hear from someone regarding missing parts.Update: I received the fenders a week later. Very cheap and didn’t provide all pieces required to put both fenders on. I had to purchase aftermarket pieces to fit the front fender on. There is also no video showing how to put the fenders on. I had to search the internet to identify some similar fenders to see how they install them. Easy to put on after all said and done.Overall: The fenders aren’t worth the additional $449 payment. I would purchase the $350 basic version (knowing the bike may not have all the parts) and buy additional parts as you need them from a third party. That would make this purchase worth it.

    Decent bike with some caveats

Ok, so this is a good $700 bike. The battery lasts a long time, it’s FAST, the electronic controls are easy to use, and it’s sturdy. But definitely don’t expect to take it out of the box and be ready to ride it. I put this thing together and almost flew over the handlebars because the brakes were so untuned, you really need to know what you’re doing to get this thing rideable before getting on it. The gears also didn’t shift except for the first 3. I spent another $150 taking it to my local bike shop to get a full-tune job and making sure every bolt and nut on it was tight because I didn’t trust the manufacturer to do it. Additionally, it came with a broken front headlamp that I had to pay my bike shop to fix as well because the manufacturer didn’t address it when I reached out. All in all, I’m happy with this bike after putting out extra money for it, but keep in mind you will need to do so to get it in working order so make sure you budget for that when making this purchase.

Makes a long ride a lot easier

I like the features this bike came with. Assembly was easy and it comes with an speedometer. The bike itself looks good. I use it with a tagalong bike for my kid. I went about 20 miles on 2 passive assist mode and the battery only went down about one indicator level.

    Great price runs great.

The bike should have had a key to turn off power. Your added price option for that costs too much money. To keep small kids from hurting themself a small hidden kill switch would have been just fine. My 6 year old grandson won’t stop turning the bike on.Hate to complain because the bike is priced very low. The battery is heavy, I don’t like taking the battery off every time kids are around it.

    Customer Service

Love the Bike, However when it was delivered I realized that I had some problems with the Bike I ordered and the Bike that was delivered. I called Amazon before writing a review to see if they can redeem what had happened. Like always they were ready to refund me and take it back. However Amazon suggested to call HeyBike and tell them my problem. So that is what I did. Let me just say that HeyBike’s customer service for Me, was Outstanding!! I told them my problem and Nancey who was the customer rep was Great she recommended a couple of way’s to correct the problem and I excepted because they made it right with out a hassle. And they were prompt and fast with getting back to me by email which I am not a Big fan of but they made it fast and simple and always answered my emails and questions. So Customer service was Outstanding and Nancey the rep was Awesome and the Bike is Great and fast!.Thanks again Nancey and HeyBike!!!

    Charger doesn’t fit

**Update** I was able to get in touch with customer service. They had me order an adapter so the charger would become the right size and gave me a partial refund to cover the cost. The adapter works and the battery is currently charging!** The bike looks really nice and high quality except the charger they sent doesn’t fit! I can’t charge the battery or use the bike without it.

    Thing goes

For the price, I don’t think you can get a better ebike. Great top speed, shocks work well, brakes work well, and the bike can hold up. It is on the heavy side but what do can you expect, it’s a mountain style ebike. Good looking ebike.

You get what you pay for

Fairly dependable bike.It is not a $2000 bike. If that’s what you want, then spend more money.Have used it for a couple of months and works great. You may want to drop a couple of hundred on accessories like, a back rack w/fender, since no fenders or splash guards are included. An air pump, cable lock and a bottle/cup holder would help also.Overall, not a bad bike.

Powerful engine. Very long range battery. Sturdy frame, wheels, thick spokes.

Powerful engine. Very long range battery. Sturdy frame, wheels, thick spokes. Quite light, almost like a regular mountain bike with water bottles. Convenient computer. Removable battery. I assembled it in about one hour, slowly and carefully. The kit included some tools and an additional good tail light. I replaced the seatpost (the diameter is written on it) with a higher one, since my height is 196cm. I replaced the tires with inexpensive smooth slicks. To remove the rear wheel you will need an 18mm wrench. And also carefully disconnect the engine wire connector to remove the wheel. I have never spent more than one stick on the battery, as I am used to helping with pedals. I installed mirrors, a speaker, a smartphone holder, a bicycle light, and a couple of bags. I also plan to cover the armor with TPU film and reflective film. And pour anti-puncture slime into the cameras. Super positive and caring customer service.

It’s very comfortable and easy to ride.

This bike is one of the best things I have ever bought for myself. I absolutely love it.My brother had it together for me in about 30 minutes. I love that it has an odometer on it, it has a speedometer as well. It’s very comfortable and easy to ride. I highly recommend this bike. It’s a great product for a great price. The battery comes off and locks on with ease, it has a headlight, which I didn’t realize came on it and that’s a great feature. We’re full time RVers, so it’s a great way to explore the campgrounds we’re in and it rides very well on dirt paths.

It’s a good buy, but the speedometer is not right

I like it. It’s fast enough, but in no way does 28 mph. It might, if it could drive itself. At 200LBS, top end is 23 mph without peddling. With peddling, maybe 26 if you peddle like crazy or you’re going down a hill with the wind on your back. Also, while passing a few speed check signs, I discovered that the speedometer is always 1 mph faster than what the sign reflects. So when you think you’re going 25, you’re really going 24 mph. That is not a big deal. I just need to keep up with my grandson, and I DO! The battery seems to hold up well, but it’s still young, so time will tell. The headlight is nice and bright. One downside is, it’s a pretty heavy steel framed bike. also, I don’t like leaning forward. Arms get tired. So I added 6 inches to the handlebar height, and changed the seat to a more friendly one, and changed the seat post so the seat is slightly behind the peddles. For the sale price, shipping and performance, it is still competitive. It’s not my Harley, but for what I use it for, it’s perfect! So two thumbs up.

    Great bike for the money!

I’ve had my 27.5 Heybike for almost two months. I’m 75 years old, 6’2” and 190 lbs. I haven’t ridden a bike since I was 14, so it’s been a while. I’ve been walking my neighborhood for my health, but walking is boring. So, I decided to get an electric bike. I decided on the Heybike because of the price, plus its nice features.Well, I’ve put 250 miles on my Heybike in less than two months. I ride 5-7 miles each morning, mostly through my neighborhood. Not boring at all. I drive all three PAS settings. I usually start at 1, move to 2, and I have a half mile section of road that I move to 3 (about 20-24 miles per hour) for a great ride.I am totally satisfied with my electric bike. I plan to take it to Dogwood Canyon near Branson, MO and ride their bike trails, beautiful area. And soon I will take it to a local lake that has a 13.5 mile bicycle trail around the lake. I really enjoy my Heybike.

    Great bike!!

I like this model of hey bike for the fact that it looks like a real bike and not the pudgy type of e bikes with the fat tires.Bikes came packaged well! Not that difficult to put together.Rides great and gear shifting was smooth. Only put about 10 miles on it and battery was still full! I know I can get more than 40 miles with it.And here’s a tip….these bikes weigh about 60 pounds with battery…52 without. Do not use a trunk mount to haul bike!!! It will not hold…not even a saris mount will work as most bike racks that are trunk mount only handle 35 pounds. Dig into your pocket and get a 2 inch hitch for your vehicle if ya ain’t got one. Then, get a bike rack with a 2 inch receiver that fits into the hitch. These racks will hold 2 e bikes easily! Plus they are more sturdy. I suggest a wildroad carrier. Roughly 150 here on Amazon.

    Thrilled!

I bought 2 Heybikes Race Max. Yes, a few adjustments had to be made (brakes and gears) very simple with videos. My wife and I are thrilled with our purchase. They are so fun to ride. We have gone 25 miles and still my batteries are one notch from full. These bikes have the largest capacity battery in this price range, which is one of the main reasons for choosing Heybike Racer Max. Assembly was minimal, just put on seat, front wheel, handlebars, kickstand, and front headlight. It can be assembled by one person but some may require two people. Inflate tires to 35 pounds,15 minutes each bike adjusting brakes and gears. These bikes go fast enough, I have been up to 23 mph without pedaling. Get a helmet! We have been having a blast riding our Heybikes!

    Amazing Starter Bike

I would give this bike a 5 star review if it wasn’t for C/S response to my message I sent to them. The add shows an adjustable stem for the handlebars. That does not come with one. The ad also tells of the tail light that comes with the bike. That does not come with one. C/S says they revised the bike and that it no longer has this on the bike for sale. It comes with a rear reflector. I said this was false advertisement. For a starter ebike this is a great buy. True they have a few items on the bike that are not top quality, but for the price you can’t go wrong. Easy to assemble. The handlebars sit too low. To raise them you need a adjustable stem. The wheels needed to be realigned. Performance is fantastic. Level 1 lets you ride the bike with ease. Level 2 makes it even easier a ride. Level 3 you are flying down the road. I am very happy with my purchase. Unhappy with the ad though.

    Huge disappointment: updated review

Update: I received a new fork and replaced it. Then I realized the front wheel was warped. Hey bike sent a new rim and tire. They also provided customer support to replace the parts. Overall good customer service. I had to wait and tweak the bike but it now rides well. Is the the headache worth the lower price? That’s a question you will need to ask yourself if you are unlucky like I was.I don’t typically write Amazon reviews but felt compelled to warn other potential buyers about the risk of receiving a poor quality and defective product. My bike arrived with a clearly bent front fork. This is something that should have been detected at the factory if quality assurance processes are in place. That doesn’t seem to be the case for Hey Bike. 3 weeks later I received another fork with no support or documents instructing replacement. I suppose I’m expected to take this to a bike shop and pay for it myself. Overall hugely disappointed and I am basically out $500. I’d suggest spending the money to get a quality product. I could be unlucky but this could also happen to you if you purchase this product.

    My 100 Mile Review

I did much much research before getting this and i cant lie i was a little skeptical. But i personally, was looking for a part time doordash type of bike. With the range people were getting, i was okay with it. I got and and the assembly really wasnt that bad at all. As someone with little to no assembly experience, all i did was put up a YouTube video and i was done in about an hour because for me it took forever to get the wheel on haha. I can say this is definitely one of the best purchases ive made that worked out for me. I consistently get 35- 45 to even 50 miles on pedal assist 2 and 3 modes. The bike held up to the words that were said by others. To end my review the only two maybe negative things i have to say are that the battery could be better to last longer on rides. But with this price range its really not that bad. Two is that the brakes when you get them are realllly screechy and not the greatest. But for some reason for me, after a little bit of riding it gets better. Maybe after like 15 miles or so that goes away and they have some good stopping power. Definitely get this bike! If you can afford better at the 700 dollar category than do so, but if this is the bulk of what you can afford, you are not doing yourself a disservice. Hope this helps. I did not get sponsored but would not mind haha.

    Race max bike

the bike looks really nice. brakes are nice and quite the headlight and horn combo work very well. i love the style of button used for the headlight and the horn. The only bad things about the bike are that at higher speeds it sounds like something is going to rattle off the bike. The bike seat clamp does not work at all (lucky i had a spare bike with a seat clamp that worked). The battery wobbles a lot while in motion and doesn’t seem like its mounted well.EDIT: GOT A HOLD OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND THEY ARE SUPER UNDERSTANDING, they are going to send me some parts to fix certaint things. They do respond fast and are willing to help fix any issue you have.

    Good basic Electric Bike

I previously bought an electric bike that did not promise to be for tall people. It was okay for me, but uncomfortable. I am six foot five and this book was a bit longer and that really helped a lot. The seat adjusted to what I needed. The handlebars were okay for riding. I purchased an extension to raise them up and that really worked well.I’ve had it for one summer. It is a comfortable bike with good battery life. With pedaling and full assist, I got it up to 27 miles per hour.

Two person assembly, but great for the price

This is my first ebike, but from what I know it’s really good! The riding is smooth and it goes a good speed. It is slightly taller than expected and I had to get my mom to help with the setup, but overall I’m satisfied.

    My first power-assist bike

This bike arrived on time, was easily assembled and is fun to ride. A lot of power in PAS 3.

    Great Buy!

Just got my Hey Bike put together and just had a great build! Very easy to put together… Handlebars ended up being to low for me so I got a handlebar extender for it and Perfect fit and couldn’t be any easier to install!! I’ve only ridden it a couple of times because I was waiting for my handlebars to arrive…now I’m set. Thanks Hey Bike! and ya it boogies pretty good down the street!

    Good value for the money….

We purchased 2 of these E-Bikes… our first experience with e-bikes. Easy to assembly. Everything was packaged very well. I must admit they are built quite well for the price! The peddle assist works very well!! The battery plate that is mounted on the main downtube is not mounted straight on either of these bikes! I took the battery mounting plate off mine and actually filed the threaded inserts on the left side to try and get it to lay flat. It does sit better now but could take a little more off to get it completely lined up to sit vertically… they lean to the right. It’s not a big deal… just bugs me when I look at it from the riding position. We were very uncomfortable with the low handlebars and have since purchased a stem extender and new handlebar mount to bring the handlebars up and back towards the rider, so you aren’t leaning over so far. So far, the battery is holding up pretty good… but we only have a little over 130 miles on them. The seat?! pretty much non-existent. but I suppose once you get your butt in shape for sitting on a thin hard surface… you’ll be ok (still working on that). Got the wifey a new seat. wise move…. We had a little trouble with error codes. I placed the bikes in the back of my truck and after taking them out and turning mine on I immediately got a 24 ERROR code. Be aware of the connector under the right rear arm that connects the motor to the electronics and battery. It was loose and not making connection. Called tech support and they were very helpful. After disconnecting ALL the connectors and re-connecting them… It finally worked. Then my wife received a 25 ERROR code minutes later! So… also be aware that you cannot hold either brake lever and turn the display power on to the bike..! We have noticed that every once in a while, the bike seems to jump forward! just a bit but it’s very strange. So now my wife, after a couple whacks in the shin with the peddle, now powers it up AFTER she gets on. Not sure if we are hitting something to cause this or not! Would be interested if anyone else is experiencing the same phenomenon! These bikes seem to handle pretty well and appear they will hold up for quite a while!! Will add more after we get some real miles on them. For an entry level E-Bike… These are great!

    This bike is awesome!

Got this today for my son’s early birthday present. Put it together and he left me in the dust. Smooth ride, looks good, and the pedal assist makes it so much more fun to ride longer distance. I might buy myself one too!

    Worth the money

It’s a pretty good bike and power for the money. Two things however, there are random bursts of power that last for just about a second or two.if you arnt balanced when it happens you could fall the other thing is both brakes are not great. The back one squeels and the front brake was loose within a week. I had to adjust the brake but after one day it needs to be readjusted.good budget bike though

Is it 750W or 500W? Says 750w max but then says 500watt.

Likes: looks, power, brakes, seat, and has shock absorbers on the front.Dislikes: When I turn sharply, the front tire touches my foot. Size 11 1/2 shoe size. My Rad Mission 500 watt has the front tire much further forward. Not a deal breaker, only happens with sharp turns like coming out of my driveway onto the street. In power setting number 3 it has a little more power than my Rad Mission even though they are both 500watt. Update, after several weeks of riding, this bike is amazing for the price. It will gain speed on a mild hill without pedaling. Has more power than my other 500w bike. Front shocks actually work to keep my 240lbs from slamming too hard on bumps. Anybody looking for an ebike in this price range will not be disappointed. Easy to put together out of the box also. Just remember to put the power setting in 3 if you are using throttle only.
